Nick's retirement as GSL

NickandMyraNick announced his retirement as GSL at our AGM in June.

Nick has been GSL since 1991 and has worked tirelessly for the Group and local Scouting.

He has organised international camps in America, France and Russia for the Group and also worked with others in the district to establish links with Russian Scouting.

Russian Scouts and Leaders were brought to the UK to attend a two week camp with our Group in the mid 1990's.

In addition, he led Group trips to the Jamborette in Haarlem, Netherlands in 1999 and 2003.

Nick received a Celebration of Volunteering award from the mayor in 2009.

Along with this international aspect, Nick has led the Group, organising local camps, activities and fund-raising.

The Group presented Nick with a card and award at our end of year BBQ.see the Events page...

Thanks for all that you have done for our Group, Nick, you will be a hard act to follow!

ASDA Bag-Packing : Saturday 2nd April

A very successful event, made possible by the support of ASDA staff, the generosity of the customers, and the efforts of the Leaders and members of the Groups involved:

Sea Scouts, 11th (St Michaels) Scouts , Dragons Explorer Scouts.

Over £1,100 was raised to support activities for these groups.

Sea Scouts and Cubs who took part earned funds towards their camps and activities at a rate of £5 per hour.

By supporting these events, significant reductions can be made in camp fees.

Next Bag-Packing : Saturday 2nd July.

Beer and Skittles : Friday 18th March

Thanks to all who attended this event. A very enjoyable evening which raised over £300 towards Group funds.
