The Basingstoke East District St George's Day parade and service took place on Sunday 25th April.

This year the Group was represented by all three sections on the parade, with the newly reformed Beaver section taking part.

The weather was kind to us, being warm and sunny, as we paraded through Basingstoke town centre.

During the service at St Michael's there was a special award, a Medal of Merit, for our GSL Nick. This award was earned for outstanding services to Scouting.

Nick has been GSL with the Group since 1992; organised or attended various international camps; was instrumental in developing links with Russian Scouting; is also currently District Badge secretary.

A well deserved award, well done Nick.

Following the service, the Groups paraded past the Mayor and Mayoress, and then on completion were all rewarded with a chocolate bar !
